altDavid Jon Dokken develops and directs activities associated with operational management of the Working Group II TSU. He possesses vast experience with the IPCC process, including both the peer review mechanism and production, having co-edited three IPCC assessments (the WG2 contributions to both the Second and Third Assessment Reports, and the Synthesis Report for the Third Assessment), three Special Reports (on Regional Impacts, Aviation, and Land Use), and two Technical Papers (on Policies and Measures, and Biodiversity).

David is responsible for identifying and implementing staffing needs, and the annual budget preparation and defense to the National Science Foundation via the TSU's administering organization, the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). He conceptualizes and oversees publications and review innovations of benefit to the IPCC as a whole, and prepares the schedules and work plans to ensure timely launch of all WG2 deliverables, as well as performing the actual work!

In between stints with the IPCC WG2 TSU, he served as Deputy Director of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), serving as an editor and designing/producing the program's annual report to the President and Congress (FY2004 through FY2009 editions of Our Changing Planet) and its Strategic Plan and Vision documents (issued in 2003). He has been a UCAR employee since 1994, and received numerous performance awards. He possesses an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia (1985) and a Masters in Professional Writing and Editing from George Mason University (1990). He is married and has three sons.
