Publication of "Foundations Report" from the
Mid-Atlantic Regional Assessment
In March 2000, The Pennsylvania
State University released the "Overview" report for the Mid-Atlantic
Regional Assessment. This Regional Assessment is one component of the
U.S. Global Change Research Program's (USGCRP) First National Assessment,
"Climate Change Impacts on the United States: The Potential Consequences
of Climate Variability and Change." The "Overview" report provided
a summary of the findings of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Assessment,
sponsored by the U.S. EPA's Global Change Research Program within the
Office of Research and Development.
The Pennsylvania State University has released the entire "Foundations
Report" for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Assessment. This peer-reviewed
report documents in greater detail the methods, findings and
recommendations from the first two years of the Mid-Atlantic Regional
Assessment that were summarized in the March 2000 "Overview" report.
It includes a more detailed discussion of the potential beneficial
and adverse consequences of climate variability and change for the
Mid-Atlantic region, accounting for how people and ecosystems are likely
to respond.
The Foundations Report benefitted from a rigorous peer review. The
authors' responses to the comments received from peer reviewers and the
public are contained in a "Comment Response Document" that appears along
with the Foundation Report.
The Foundations Report and Comment Response Document are available
here.
